Syol Ntö Ner (/sjol/ /nto˞/ [native] [idea; concept; theme]) is a temperate Town located in the Krëchysnǟ Moot of the Viceroyalty of Rosid.

The name Syol Ntö Ner is derived from the Wood Elvish language, as Syol Ntö Ner was founded by Adelen Daelret, who was culturaly Wood Elven.

Climate

Syol Ntö Ner has a yearly average temperature of 7°C (44°F), with its average temperature during the summer being an icy 26°C (78°F) and its average temperature during the winter being a cold -11°C (13°F). Syol Ntö Ner receives an average of 280 cm/y (110 in/y) of precipitation, most of which comes in the form of snow during the pleasantly short winter months. Syol Ntö Ner covers an area of nearly 5 km2 (2 mi2), and an average elevation of 3448 m (11312 ft) above sea level.

Overview

Syol Ntö Ner was founded durring the late 16th century in winter of the year 1467, by Adelen Daelret. The establishment of Syol Ntö Ner suffered from several major issues, resulting in the need to develop many solutions to basic problems. Problems such as a lack of fresh water, logistical support, poor quality tools, and the odd monster or two. Howeaver, these were overcome in time.

Syol Ntö Ner was built using the conventions of Wood Elven durring the late 16th century. Naturaly, all settlmentss have their own look to them, and Syol Ntö Ner is no diffrent. The town's buildings feature waddle and daub construction with good timber frames and a stone foundation protected by thatched or shingled rooves. Most buildings with second floors are built in such a way as to overhang into the streets on the upper floors for more space, as building size seems to be the primary indicator of wealth within the community. Most buildings are not decorated with any integral features, but instead use ivy, flowers, and other natural elements in planters of on trellices to breathe life into the structure they grow upon.

Syol Ntö Ner is buildings are built arround a single restrictive paverstone mainstreet which forms a counterclockwise spiral to give the town a over all circular shape. The town has a fortified albit thin brick wall. The wall has most of the feeatures of a typical castle wall, just on a much smaller scale and and budget. Notably brick isn't a particuarly soild choice for resisting siege weapons. Syol Ntö Ner's wall wouldn't hinder a proper army, but it is more than sufishent for bandits and other small marauding groups. Syol Ntö Ner's monster and outlaw focused fortifications are suffering from significent damage, so much so that examples can be pointed to no matter which section one might have within their line of site, and most of which render sections inoperable at present.

A look around Syol Ntö Ner gives you an uneasy feeling. Everything is just a little too worn down, a little too dirty, or both. No one makes eye contact. Kids play quietly, but happily. Occasionally a passerby glances at you out of the corner of their eye, staring jsut long enough for it to be uncomfortable.

Syol Ntö Ner has an Arts Academy which provides higher education in many fields including math, language arts, philosophy, engineering, and other such disciplines.

Syol Ntö Ner has a Parks and Recreation Department, which is responsible for the construction, management, and usage rights for all of its parks and parklands.

Syol Ntö Ner has a public schooling program overseen by the Hall of Sages who has the responsibility of ensuring access to affordable high-quality education in all basic classes (Reading, Writing, Mathmatics, General Sciences, General Arcana, and Social Education) is made available to all citizens.

Cultural Notes

Syol Ntö Ner's bank was built using a different architectural style from the rest of the town. The style used is best known for its functional shapes, abstract shapes used sparingly for decor, simple color schemes, holistic design, and basic industrial materials. Its simple designs were created to be beautiful, functional, and mass-producible. The style used little to no embellishment or ornamentation, instead drawing attention to the streamlined design, such as flat roofs to create a simple, geometric look. The simplicity masks the style's nearly sinister functionality, as every last feature is designed to guide the people living in the building in how to make the most efficient use of the structure.
